Who We Are
SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and your local Area Agency on Aging. Specially trained volunteers can assist you with your Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance questions by providing one-on-one counseling and information. SHINE services are free, unbiased, and confidential.
The SHINE program supports the Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ mission by providing free and unbiased health insurance counseling through a dedicated network of volunteers, empowering Florida seniors to make informed health care choices.

Mutual Termination of Physicians United Plan, H5696, Effective July 1,2014
A SEP (Special Election Period):
All beneficiaries enrolled in H5696 have an SEP until August 31, 2014
All dual eligibles or those eligible for the Low-Income Subsidy can enroll in another plan at any time, they are not limited to the SEP deadline of August 31, 2014
A beneficiary that selects another MA or MA-PD plan will be covered under that plan effective the first day of the next month after they enroll

Consumers can also contact the Florida State Health Insurance Program (SHINE) at 1-800-96ELDER for more information in their counties
Consumers can also contact the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) at 1-888-419-3456 for assistance paying Medicare premiums, deductibles and coinsurance
